The Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka (TTASL) is seriously considering pulling out from the Asian Table Tennis Championships, which is scheduled to be held from September 28 to October 5 in Doha, Qatar.
The Executive Committee of the TTASL had a lengthy discussion yesterday and they are set to make a final announcement today after consultation with the Sports Ministry.
A total of six paddlers including three Men and three Women from the High-Performance Pool are currently training for this event in addition to two Men and two Women, who are set to make it on this tour.
A reliable source from the TTASL said that they are likely to withdraw from this event as they need to bear the extra cost of staying in Doha for 10 additional days due to COVID-19 protocols in the country.
The tournament was shifted to Qatar as the initial hosts China and India both pulled out due to COVID-19 pandemic.
