The APGC Junior Golf Championship, hosted at the Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club, has seen Sri Lanka’s junior golfers put in a remarkable performance, setting the stage for a potential historic finish.

After day two of the team event, Sri Lankan golfers Reshan Algama and Kaya Daluwatte ended with a gross score of 289, placing them within striking distance of a coveted top-three finish.

In a highly-competitive field, South Korea currently leads the team standings, securing both first and second positions while Thailand were in number there followed by Hong Kong China at number four.

With just a few strokes separating the Sri Lankan Team from the top spots, a strong performance on the final day could see them secure a podium finish.

In the Boys’ individual event, left-handed, Algama showed immense talent once again. After carding a solid one-over-par round he currently sits in fourth place with a score of 142.

He remains just two strokes behind Thailand’s B. Teerwat, who leads the field at 140. With everything to play for today, Algama is on the brink of securing a monumental top-three finish – a feat that would mark a significant milestone for Sri Lankan golf on the international stage.

Meanwhile, Daluwatte delivered a consistent performance with a one-over-par round, placing her in seventh with a score of 147.

Although the leader, L. Arianna is out in front with a commanding 133, Daluwatte remains focussed on achieving a top-five finish, which would be a commendable accomplishment.
Team performances (Top five): 1, South Korea (1), 2, South Korea (2), 3, Thailand, 4, Hong Kong China, 5, Sri Lanka.
