SL paddlers to vie at Asian Youth Meet

Sri Lanka will field four teams for the 28th Asian Youth Table Tennis Championships 2024, which commenced in Chongqing, China, yesterday.

The Ministry of Sports has provided all financial assistance for the Sri Lanka Table Tennis Team during this tour, with 20 Asian countries set to participate. 

Sri Lanka will compete in the Under-15 (boys’ and girls’) and Under-19 (boys’ and girls’) categories, and the teams were selected based on their performances at the recent South Asian Youth Table Tennis Championships held in Kandy.

The Sri Lanka Asian Youth Table Tennis Squad:

(U-15 girls’): Yoshini Jayawardana (Mahamaya), Muthuli Sahanya (Southlands), Samindi Weerasooriya (Good Shepherd Convent), and Mekalya Fernando (Elizabeth Moir)
(U-15 boys’): Akain Bojith (Dharmasoka), Naviru Nethsitha (Dharmasoka), Agasthya Ananditha (Bond International School), and Senul Rathnayake (Dharmaraja)
(U-19 girls’): Bimandi Bandara (Hillwood), Tamadi Kavindya (Sri Devananda), Divya Dharani (Dharmasoka), Lesanya Sethumdee (Dharmasoka), and Sandithi Jayasinghe (Musaeus)
(U-19 boys’): Shafiullah Akram (Trinity), Janith Batugedara (Royal), Diran Hamer (Royal), Saluka Premachandra (Ananda), and Vinuka Gunawardena (Royal)
