SL to participate in three sports at Commonwealth Youth Games

The Sri Lanka Commonwealth Association has arranged for three sports teams from Sri Lanka to participate in the Commonwealth Youth Games (CYG) 2023. The three Sri Lanka teams are scheduled to leave on August 5.  
The 7th Youth Commonwealth Games conducted by the Commonwealth Sports Association is scheduled to be held in Trinidad and Tobago from August 7-11 with the participation of 71 countries.  


Nine athletes are going to representing Sri Lanka in athletics (5), swimming (2) and beach volleyball men (2) with the approval of the Ministry of Sports.  
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Athletics has taken steps to allow only athletes who have qualified to participate in the tour due to the lack of visas for the managers and coaches who have been selected to travel.  


Sri Lanka team- Ayomal Akalanka (Ambagamuwa MMV Ambagamuwa) Boys 400m hurdle,   
Lesandu Arthavidu (D.S.Senanayaka College Colombo) Boys High Jump, Nilupul Pehesara (Vijitha MMV Dikwella), Nirmali Wickramasinghe (Wicramabahu National Schools Gampola) Girls 800m. and Shalani Hanshika Munasingha (Ambagamuwa MMV Ambagamuwa) Girls Long Jump.
