SLA Special Olympic Trial on June 30

The National Open Stage II Special Trial for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, conducted by Sri Lanka Athletic (SLA) will be held on June 30 at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo.
This meet has been upgraded to a World Athletics Category ‘E’ competition will be visible on the World Athletic Global Calendar.
Only a selected number of events will be conducted at this meet where the eight finalists of the 102nd National Athletic Championships will be invited to participate.
The events that will be conducted are: Men’s 100m, 400m, javelin throw and Women’s 400m, 800m, 1,500m, javelin throw.

Some of Sri Lanka’s elite athletes including Yupun Abeykoon (Men’s 100m), Tharushi Karunarathna (Women’s 800m), Aruna Dharshana, Kalinga Kumarage, Nadeesha Ramanayake (Men’s and Women’s 400m),  Rumesh Tharanga, Sumedha Ranasinghe, Nadeesha Lekamge (Men’s and Women’s javelin throw) will compete in this meet, SLA Secretary Saman Gunawardena revealed.
This will also be the last chance for Sri Lanka’s elite athletes to achieve the Olympic Qualifying standards ahead of the deadline on June 30.
