Sri Lanka Athletics (SLA) will form a national pool and another pool with international standards while targeting the events scheduled for 2022
and 2023.
SLA has made arrangements to start training with both these athletic pools from October 1.
Therefore, the national pool selections will take place on September 17, 18 and 19 at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Sports Complex in Diyagama, President SLA, Major General (Ret) Palitha Fernando told the Daily Mirror yesterday. This selection trial will be held to pick the Sri Lankan track and field team for the postponed 24th Asian Athletic Championships and for the 19th Asian Games.
The Asian Athletic Championship will be held from July 12 to 16 at Pattaya, Thailand and the Asian Games will be held from September 23 to October 8 in Hangzhou, China.
