SLAF Commander’s Cup golf tourney set for January 23

The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) and the Eagles’ Golf Links will host the Commander’s Cup 2021 annual golf tournament for men and women from January 23 at China Bay in Trincomalee.

This premier golf tournament is being organized for the eighth time under the guidance of the Commander of SLAF Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana. The closing date for registration is January 15.

The championship attracted over 100 local and foreign golfers last year. “The participation of foreigners will be restricted this time because of COVID-19 but we expect diplomats and foreigners living here to take part,” said Air Commodore Prasanna Ranasinghe, chairman of SLAF golf at a press conference held at SLAF headquarters today.

The competition will be conducted in a Stableford format with three shot gun starts depending on the number of entries. In addition to the Commander’s Cup, the golfers will also vie for the Eagles’ Challenge Trophy which is award to the best serving player from the Tri Forces in men and women category.

Special awards will be given for the Longest drive and Closest to the Pin in addition to minimum putt in four selected holes.

This year the Commander’s Cup is powered by Dialog Enterprise with Anilana Hotels joining as the hospitality partner.
