The SLC Invitational T20 League will resume today with the second round of group fixtures at the Pallekele International Stadium.

In the first match, SLC Reds will take on SLC Blues at 2:30 p.m., while the SLC Greys will take on SLC Greens in the evening match starting at 7 p.m.

The Blues are sitting in second place in the points table, winning two of their three matches so far, and can pull further away from the third placed Reds with victory today.
In the first round of the group stage, the Blues recorded a comprehensive win, scoring 148/9 in 20 overs, and then restricting the Reds to 92 in 17 overs.

The Reds’ only win so far was against the bottom placed SLC Greens, in a commanding 10 wicket win over on Monday.

SLC Greens meanwhile will need to reverse course starting today if they are to keep their campaign alive, though they come up against table leaders SLC Greys.

Ashan Priyanjan’s Greens’ team came close to victory in their opening game of the league, but since then have suffered two defeats to sit at the bottom of the table.

That opening day defeat came at the hands of the Greys who, after that close first match, have recorded two more wins by 35 runs against the Reds, and 16 runs versus the Blues.

The in-form batsman of the tournament is all-rounder Kamindu Mendis of the SLC Greens, who has scored half centuries in all three matches he has played, racking up 193 runs with an average of 96.5.

Sri Lanka’s new limited overs captain Dasun Shanaka, who is also skipper of the Greys, has the highest score of the tournament, 84, and is second on that list, though at 140 runs he is some distance away from Mendis.
Seekuge Prasanna of the Reds has six wickets to his name, with Nuwan Pradeep and Pulina Tharanga of the Greys with five wickets each.
