SLC Invitational T20 in preparation for Asia Cup

Sri Lanka Cricket has finalised arrangements to conduct an Invitational T20 League 2002 in preparation for the forthcoming T20 Asia Cup and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.  

The tournament is scheduled to get underway from August 8 and all the matches will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium. Four teams are scheduled to contest involving 60 players comprising of national and first class cricketers selected by the SLC selection committee. Each team will play each once and the top two will battle it out in the final is slotted to be played on August 16.  

Meanwhile with the Asian Cricket Council having not decided the host country for the T20 Asian Cup scheduled to be held from August 24 to September 16, a meeting is scheduled to be held on July 28 to finalise the host venue.  
Sri Lanka was to be the host country but due to the prevailing situation in the country it’s at a stand still. According to sources if Sri Lanka is unable to it would most probably be the United Arab Emirates or Bangladesh which will be decided on July 28. -MSA
