Hotel pub and coffee shop opened to public

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has officially expressed concerns over the arrangements at the hotel where the Sri Lanka and Bangladesh teams are staying during the three-match ODI series, it is learnt.

A source asked, “Why is the hotel not exclusive for the teams?”

“Both the host and the visiting teams are staying in the same Pan Pacific Sonargaon hotel in Dhaka. However, the pub and the coffee shop restaurants in the hotel are open to the public and attention has been drawn to the authorities,” the source said.

The Sri Lankan contingent suffered a scare on the day of the first ODI on Sunday, when three COVID-19 positive results were reported, but it was later confirmed, after a second round of tests, that only one had been positive. “In Bangladesh, chances of false reports are 40 %”, another source said. The Sri Lanka team had optional training on Monday. “It was especially for the players’ who didn’t perform well in the first ODI. Players were trained by the coaching staff.”
The head coach Mickey Arthur was not present at the ground but remained in the hotel doing computer analysis.
