SLHF to field two teams for Singapore Hockey Tournament

The Executive Committee of the Sri Lanka Hockey Federation (SLHF) will field a Men’s and Women’s Team for the four-Nation Hockey Tournament to be hosted by the Singapore Hockey Federation (SHF) from December 14 to 18.   

The other countries set to participate in this invitational tournament are Indonesia, Hong Kong and hosts Singapore.   

The Men’s tournament will be played for the E. W. The Barker Cup and the Women’s Tournament will be played for the Annabel Penne Feather Cup.   

Earlier, only the Men’s Team was set to compete at this event but as the Women’s Team has also qualified to play in the 2023 Asian Games Hockey Tournament, the Executive Committee of the SLHF decided to field both teams for the Singapore event to gain international exposure, SLHF President P. Vishvanathan said yesterday.   
Therefore, the SLHF has already formed a 40-member national pool after the conclusion of the 59th Men’s Senior National Hockey Championships in Colombo.   

The Women’s national pool will be picked after the Women’s Senior Nationals scheduled later.
