The Sri Lanka Motor Cycle Club (SLMCC) kick-started the commemoration of its Diamond Jubilee on November 12 with a training programme for marshals that was conducted at the Olympic House in Colombo.
The programme focused on flag signals as well as other relevant competencies necessary to be a marshal in motorcycle racing and was conducted under the patronage of the Ceylon Motor Sports Club.
Continuing with SLMCC’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, the club is also set to conduct a novices’ training programme at the Katukurunda Racing Arena on November 20.
The programme aims to raise the standards of young motorcyclists and expand the country’s cyclist feeder pool.
Instruction on basic techniques and skill enhancements for drivers and riders (car and bike) will be provided by instructors Kushan Peiris and Shoel Daniel.
Marshals and drivers taking part will be eligible to apply for membership with the SLMCC.
Entries for the programme will close on November 15. Further details can be obtained by contacting 0772298899.
