Thalduwa Buddhist Central College bagged the Sabaragamuwa Province schools rugby sevens tournament, beating Kegalu Vidyalaya 26 to 05 in the Cup Final yesterday.
On route to the final, they beat Rajasinghe MC 22-05 and Kegalu Vidyalaya 17-10 in the first round before edging past Eheliyagoda CC 26-24 in the Cup Semi-final.
Kegalu Vidyalaya had wins over Rajasinghe MC (29-05) in the first round and Dehiovita CC (31-26) in the Semis before entering the Cup Final.
Rajasinghe CC won the Shield, beating Zahira College 17-07 and Eheliyagoda CC beat Dehiowita CC 17-15 to win the Bowl.
As losing Cup finalists, Kegalu Vidyalaya had to be content as Plate champions.
The tournament – one of a series of tournaments being played by schools in their respective provinces – featured six teams.
