Sri Lanka U19 player and Wesley College opener Sahil Dias cracked a knock of 142 to help his side end day one with a formidable score of 317 runs against S. Thomas’ College in their Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter played at Mt Lavinia.
Sahil, whose knock came off 202 runs comprised 15 boundaries, was involved in two fruitful partnerships, first of 93 runs for the fourth wicket with Thenuka Perera, and the other of 49 runs for the fifth wicket with Semila Liyanage who made 77.
In the process Sahil equaled a Wesley College individual batting record against S. Thomas’ that was set by the legendary M. Sathasivam which was achieved way back in 1936.
Half tons by Mahen Silva, Nilash Perera, Chakila Perera and Nishen Fernando helped St. Sebastian’s, taking first lease of the wicket, to make a formidable score of 302 for 5 declared against St. Peter’s College who ended day one on 23 for 1 in the match played at Bambalapitiya.
The matches will be continued today.
