Salinda, Harshani excel at Masters athletics

Salinda Randeewa and Harshani Jayakantha excelled at the 2022 Sri Lanka Masters Athletics Championship held at the Sugathadasa Stadium.


Over 800 veteran athletes took part in this tournament. Randeewa won in the age 35 group clocking 14.05 seconds in the 110m men’s hurdles while Jayakantha won the women’s long jump with a leap of 5.50 metres.
Athletes will be selected for the Asian Masters Athletics in October in China based on their performances, according to Masters Athletic Sri Lanka president H.A. Upali.

Age 35 - Salinda Randeewa (110m hurdles), age 40 - Kumara Munasinghe (200m), age 45 - W.A.A.P. Gunathilaka (long jump), age 50 - De Zoysa Siriwardene (long jump), age 55 - M Lalintha (long jump), age 60 - Ranjith Premalal (discus), age 65 - P.S.G. De Zoysa (discus) age 70 - M.C. Dissanayake (discus), age 75 - Y.M. Jayathilaka (shot put), age 80 - M.B. Herath (shot put)
