Saliya appointed Head Coach at Isipathana

Former Trinity College, Kandy Sports Club, and national sevens and fifteens player Saliya Kumara was appointed as the Head Coach of the Isipathana College under 19 rugby outfit for the 2022 season.


Kumara, who finished his school rugby at Trinity College in 2003, had two short stints with Havelocks SC and CH and FC before movin to Kandy SC. He played for nearly seven years for Kandy being a sevens specialist for the club and the country.


Kumara is a World Rugby-approved trainer and Rugby Educator, earning the WR Level 2 coaching certificate in both the 15s and 7s formats. Kumara has previously worked as the Backs coach for Kandy SC (2016-2018) and Trinity College Rugby team (2018-2019). He is also the current National Women’s Rugby Head Coach.

Former Isipathanian Dhanushka Botheju will be in charge of the forwards.
