Samitha Dulan wins F-64 javelin bronze at World Para Athletics

Sri Lanka Paralympian at the 2020 Tokyo Games, Samitha Dulan Kodithuwakku won the bronze medal at the World Para Athletic Championship 2023 held in Paris, France yesterday. This tournament will continue till July 18.
Samitha Dulan threw a distance of  64.06 metres in the F-64 Javelin Throw event to clinch  third position.


India’s Sumit Antil (70.83m) won the gold medal while Australia’s Michal Burian (65.21m) clinched the silver medal. India’s Sumit made it to a world para record. 
Over 1200 athletes from 107 countries are participating in the 2023 World Para Athletic Championship, which is a qualification tournament for the 2024 France Paralympic Games.
Sri Lanka are represented by three para athletes in this tournament. The other two athletes are Dinesh Priyantha and Pradeep Somasiri who will be taking part in their events on next.
