Saunders ends unbeaten run of Serendib in Champions League

Saunders SC ended the unbeaten run of Serendib SC Mawanella with a 5-1 victory in the 2022 Champions League football tournament conducted by Football Sri Lanka (FSL) at the Sugathadasa Stadium. At the half-time whistle, Saunders led 3-0. 

This is the first win in four matches for Saunders, who had drawn two and lost one in their earlier outings.
Serendib had won all their three matches prior to the loss.

Sundaraj Niresh scored a hat-trick for Saunders with strikes in the 15th, 21st, and 71st minutes. Apart from Sundaraj, Pathum Gimhana and Nalaka Kannangara also scored for Saunders. Asanta Evans pulled one back for Serendib.

In other matches, Matara City SC beat Moragasmulla SC 2-1 and Negombo Youth SC beat Crystal Palace SC 3-2. New Star and St. Mary’s SC played out a 1-1 draw.
