School Games 2023 zonal competitions to be completed before June 15

The Ministry of Education has informed all the provincial sports directors of the island through a circular that all zonal competitions of the All Island Schools Games (AISG) 2023 should be completed before June 15.   

Accordingly, the Ministry of Education has made arrangements to start AISG in four stages consisting of 28 sports from September 15.   

According to the circular issued by Director Sports of the Ministry of Education Upali Amaratunga, the AISG province competitions must be completed before September 15.   
The Ministry of Education plans to hold AISG national level competition stage one on September 15, 16 and 17, stage two on September 22, 23, 24 and 25, and stage three on November 17, 18, 19 and 20.   

AISG’s main event, the track and field Athletic Championship, is scheduled to be held from November 29 to December 3.   

Over 40,000 athletes are scheduled to participate from AISG Education Zonal Level to Athletic Championship and it is estimate to cost 200 million rupees, according to ministry sources.
