Sri Lanka will be represented by a six-member strong medical contingent for the 2022 Commonwealth Games, set to be held from July 28 to August 8 in Birmingham, England.
The medical contingent, headed by the Director-General of the Institute of Sports Medicine (ISM), Dr. Lal Ekanayaka, has already left for Birmingham and will oversee Sri Lanka’s 161-member contingent during the Games.
“The Commonwealth Games Sports Association will have strict guidelines for the prevention of COVID-19 and the Sri Lankan contingent and officials will undergo a PCR test 72 hours before the start of the event,” Dr. Ekanayaka told the Daily Mirror.
In addition, the Sri Lankan athletes will be subject to a random COVID-19 medical test during the Commonwealth Games as well.
