Pakistani fast-bowler Sohail Tanvir became the second Lanka Premier League (LPL) player to test positive for Covid-19.

Tanvir is part of the Kandy Tuskers franchise, who on Thrusday confirmed that they will be without the services of Chris Gayle.

A staff member from the television production crew has also tested positive, it is learnt.

"Both have been isolated from other members and transferred to the designated intermediate care centre," a source told the Daily Mirror.

"They have been kept in another facility in Hambantota, which is half an hour drive from the main hotel. Canada's Ravindrapal Singh was also sent to the same place yesterday,” the source added.

Singh tested positive on Thursday, and while the initial indication was he would be sent to Colombo, he has been sent to the facility set up in Hambantota instead.

As per health ministry protocols the rooms where these players and the staff member were staying have also been disinfected.

The bio-secure bubble for the LPL players and other officials is being maintained by Army Commando officers, it is learnt here.

"In the LPL, integrity of the bio-secure bubble is being maintained by the Army with Army Commandos manning the inner ring," a source told the Daily Mirror.
