Tristan Stubbs cracked 117 and shared two valuable partnerships to help South Africa ‘A’ make a bold reply of 283 for 6 after host Sri Lanka ‘A’ were bowled out for 290 on day two of the second unofficial Test match played at P. Sara Stadium.
Stubbs, whose knock came off 184 balls, hit 15 boundaries and a six and came to the rescue of his side after they lost two wickets with 15 runs on the board. Stubbs associated in two valuable partnerships, first of 123 runs for the third wicket with Keegan Peterson, and then followed by an 86-run stand for the fourth wicket with Zubayr Hamza. Another productive partnership ensued between Hamza and Kyle Verreynne for the fifth wicket, worth 32 runs.
In the morning session the Sri Lanka ‘A’ pair of Ramesh Mendis and Milan Ratnayake posted their 50-run partnership with Mendis reaching his half ton.
They added another 27 run before being separated with Sri Lanka ‘A’ on 282 for 8.
Sri Lanka ‘A’ lost their last two wickets cheaply with left-arm spinner Senura Muthusamy bagging the last wicket to end with a tally of six wickets and Sri Lanka ‘A’ ending their innings on 290.
