South Asian Youth TT Tourney in Kandy

Sri Lanka Youth Table Tennis Squad with officials

The Fourth South Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship (SAYTTC) 2024 conducted by the Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka (TTASL) will be held from May 26 to 29 at the Municipal Council Indoor Stadium in Kandy.   
The draw for the tournament will be held after the arrival of all participating teams, TTASL Organising Committee Chairman, Chandana Perera told the Daily Mirror yesterday.   
Sri Lanka will be hosting the SAYTTC after a lapse of seven years having last conducted the event in 2017. The tournament will be conducted in the Junior – Under-19 and Cadet – Under-15 Boys’ and Girls’ categories.   
India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Maldives, and Nepal have already confirmed their participation in this tournament.   
Meanwhile, the TTASL Selection Committee has named an 18-member contingent in preparation for this event and is awaiting the Sports Ministry’s approval.   
The events that will be conducted under the Junior Under-19 category are Boys’ Singles, Boys’ Doubles, Boys’ Team, Girls’ Singles, Girls’ Doubles, Mixed Doubles and Girls’ Team events.   
The events that will be conducted under the Under-15 Cadet category are Boys’ Singles, Boys’ Doubles, Boys’ Team, Girls’ Singles, Girls’ Doubles and Girls’ Team events.   
The Sri Lanka Youth Table Tennis Squad:
(Under-15 Girls’ Team): Yoshini Jayawardana (Mahamaya), Muthuli Sahanya (Southlands), Samindi Weerasooriya (Good Shepherd Convent), Mekalya Fernando (Elizabeth Moir)   
. (Under-15 Boys’ Team): Akain Bojith (Dharmasoka), Naviru Nethsitha (Dharmasoka), Agasthya Ananditha (Bond International School), Senul Rathnayake (Dharmaraja).   
(Under-19 Girls’ Team): Bimandi Bandara (Hillwood), Tamadi Kavindya (Sri Devananda), Divya Dharani (Dharmasoka), Lesanya Sethumdee (Dharmasoka), Sandithi Jayasinghe (Musaeus).   
(Under-19 Boys’ Team): Shafiullah Akram (Trinity), Janith Batugedara (Royal), Diran Hamer (Royal), Saluka Premachandra (Ananda), Vinuka Gunawardena (Royal).
