Amal Edirisuriya and Iqbal Bin Isaac sign an MoU on the grant

The Sports Ministry has made arrangements to grant Rs. 20 million each to the tennis and karate association.
Under the National Sports Council’s High Performance programme, a memorandum of understanding was signed with the two sports bodies recently.
A grant to the value of Rs. 19,464,000/- was assigned at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association headquarters while a sum to the value of Rs. 20,300,000/- was assigned for karate at the Ministry. On the directive of Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa, the Mahela Jayawardene-led NSC has selected five sports to receive the High Performance financial grants. Volleyball, tennis and karate are three sports bodies who have signed agreements.
The High Performance programme is targeting selected athletes who have the potential to win medals at the 2022 Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.
SLTA President Iqbal Bin Isaac and Department of Sports Director General Amal Edirisuriya signed the agreement for tennis in the presence of NOCSL (National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka) President Suresh Subramaniam and Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa.
