South Africa ‘A’ left arm spinner Senuran Muthusamy bagged five wickets on day one of the second unofficial Test match against host Sri Lanka ‘A’ played at the P Sara Stadium – his third successive five-wicket haul of the two-match series.
Sri Lanka ‘A’ ended the day on 257 for 7, on the back of three valuable partnerships.
The first was an opening wicket stand of 59 runs between openers Nishan Madushka and Lasith Croospulle giving the home team a sound start.
This was followed by a third wicket stand of 78 runs between Pasindu Sooriyabandara, who made 41, and Minod Bhanuka, chipping in with 32.
Ramesh Mendis and Milan Ratnayake then featured in an unbroken stand of 40 runs for the eighth wicket to boost the host sides’ score.
The match will be continued today.
