The selection committee of Sri Lanka has named Sadeera Samarawickrama as the captain of the Sri Lanka ‘A’ 22 member squad for the two unofficial Tests and the three ODI’s against the visiting Pakistan counterparts scheduled to be played from October 28 onwards.
The experienced Samarawickrama has represented the senior national team in all three formats and he will have the services of four senior national players in Vishwa Fernando, Oshada Fernando, Lasith Embuldeniya and Asitha Fernando.
With the selectors aiming to promote young players, they have included budding youngsters in the caliber of Dhananjaya Lakshan subject to fitness, Kamil Mishara, Nipun Dhananjaya, Nuwanidu Fernando, Hashen Ramanayake, Duvindu Tilekeratne, Lasith Croospulle, Sahan Arachchige, Nishan Madusanka, Kalana Perera and Ashain Daniel, with some of them being included for the first time and given an opportunity to showcase their talent.
The two unofficial Tests will be played at the Pallekele International Stadium with the first from October 28-31 and the second from November 4-7. The three unofficial ODI’s will be played at the Rangiri Dambulla stadium, with the first on November 10 followed by the second on November 12 and the third on November 15.
