Right arm spinner Praveen Maneesha’s shone with a six wicket haul which helped Sri Lanka U-19 to restrict host England U-19 resuming from their overnight score of of 193 for 4 to 247 runs on the final day’s play in the drawn first unofficial Test match concluded at Wormsley, England yesterday.
This was in reply to the formidable score of 324 made by Sri Lanka U-19. The first session of the final days play saw Praveen bagging two scalps to have the host side in a spot of bother on 210 for 6 from their overnight score of 193 for 4.
Keshana Fonseka who was on 72 on day three was able to add only another 12 runs and his dismissal with the host side on 214 for 6 saw Praveen bagging the remaining three wickets to bowl out the England U19 for a score of 247 runs and Praveen ended with figures of 6 for 56.
Sri Lanka U-19 batting the second time saw Sharujan Shanmuganathan making a top knock of 73 which included ten boundaries and shared a third wicket stand of 79 runs with Gayana Weerasinghe as Sri Lanka U-19 ended with a score of 192 for 4.
The two teams will play their second unofficial Test match from July 16 to 19 at Cheltenham.
