Sri Lanka Golf conducted 132nd Amateur Championship Taniya and Nirekh in peak form

Youngster NirekhTejwani accounted for the Men’s title at 132nd Amateur Golf Championship at the Royal Colombo Golf Club course in Colombo. 

Meanwhile Taniya Balasuriya accounted for the Women’s event with a consistent performance over the five days of golf.

More than 60 Men’s and 15 Women’s golfers teed off in this annual event, which carries World Ranking points for the future international events for golfers who finish on top. 

Defending champion Chanaka Perera was pushed to second while Sherin Balasuriya ended as runner-up in the Women’s event.

Illankoon Trophy  (Nett 1st round): Winner - Jaya Prakash (68 nett, won on count back), Runner-up – Chalitha Pushpika (69 nett); Victoria Cup (individual gross): Winner – Chalitha Pushpika (69 gross), Runner-up -Amrith de Soysa (70 gross); 

SLG Individual Trophy: Winner: A. Dhananjan (68 nett), Runner-up: Chalith Pushpika (69 nett); Sri Lanka Men’s Amateur Champion 2022: Winner -NirekhTejwani, Runner-up –Chanaka Perera
