Sri Lanka Junior Men’s VB team leaves to Myanmar

The Sri Lanka Junior Men’s Volleyball team today (July 31) left to Myanmar to take part in the third Asian Junior Men’s Volleyball Championships. It will be held from August 3 to 11. The tournament is being conducted by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AFC). 16 teams are taking part in the competition.

Sri Lanka is in Group ‘A’ with Myanmar, Australia and Hong Kong. The Sri Lanka team is captained by Shehan Lakshita Bandara. In the first round first match is on August 3 against Australia. The second match is on August 4 against Myanmar and the third match is on August 5 against Hong Kong.

The tournament started in 2015. Sri Lanka did not take part in the first tournament. Sri Lanka participated for the first time in 2017. Out of 11 countries Sri Lanka occupied 10th spot.

Shehan Madushanka Fernando, Senaka Dilshan Jayaratne, Achira Senanayake, Avishka Kaushalya, Vinod Maduranga Pieris, Chamith Dilshan, Madushanka Dissanayake, Nuwan Tharaka, Kavindu Prasad Chandrasiri and Ashen Dhanushka Fernando.
