The Sri Lanka Under 19 team came out victorious by seven wickets against the visiting West Indies Under 19 in the 2nd four-day unofficial Test match concluded at the Rangiri Dambulla Stadium yesterday.

The win saw the home team Sri Lanka Under 19 clinching the two match series 1-0 after the first match ended in a high scoring draw.

With clinching this series, Sri Lanka Under 19 completed a double, having last month won the ODI series 2-1.

West Indies Under 19 came into the field with defeat staring at their faces as they had only a slender lead of 52 runs having ended the previous day with the score on 251 for 8 with top scorer Jordan Johnson, who was unbeaten on 133, being the only recognized batsman to steer them.

But Johnson was unable to make any headway as the Windies innings lasted only 5.5 overs and Johnson in the end added a further 24 runs remained unbeaten on 157 with West Indies Under 19 being bowled out for 277 runs.

Sri Lanka Under 19 in pursuit of 79 runs for victory had little difficulty in achieving it.

Even though they lost three wickets with the score on 39 the fourth wicket pair Rusanda Gamage and Ravishan de Silva guided the side with an unbroken stand of 42 helping them to reach the target with ease in 18.4 overs.
