Sri Lanka Youth League Final Colombo North emerge champions

Colombo North emerged champions of the Sri Lanka Under 17 Youth League limited over tournament when they recorded a 13-run win on the D/L method in the rain effected final played at the NCC ground.


The match who was curtailed to 40 overs due to a late start saw it being further reduced to 21 overs when rain put a stoppage with Colombo North chasing 156 runs for victory on 93 for 1 having faced 21 overs. 


No further play was possible due to the wet outfield and the match was called off with Colombo North being declared champions with the target at stoppage being 106 runs which they had achieved.


Earlier, the match curtailed to 40 overs saw Kandy taking first lease of the wicket losing two early wickets with the score on 17 in the fourth over and though they made some recovery they lost wickets at regular intervals and was badly placed on 99 for 4 at the halfway stage of the innings.


Later Sethru Fernando who bagged five scalps with Wathila Udara who made a top score of 41 being his first victim took things under control as he cleaned off the tail with for more wickets to bowl out Kandy for 155.

At NCC – Colombo North won by 13 runs on D/L
