Sri Lanka won two silver medals and one bronze at the end of the third day of the 4th Asian Youth Under-18 Athletic Championships, which concluded in Kuwait City, Kuwait yesterday.
Sri Lanka had won a silver and a bronze medal on the opening day of the meet and eventually finished with an overall tally of five medals, including three silver medals and two bronze.
Deneth Anuhas of Bodagama MV, Thanamalwila won silver while clearing 2.01m in the boys’ high jump, while Nirmala Wickramasinghe clocked 2:15.42s to claim second place in the girls’ 800m event.
In addition, Lesandu Arthavidu of D. S. Senanayake College, Colombo, secured bronze in the boys’ high jump event with a leap of 1.97m.
Sri Lanka fielded an eight-member contingent (five boys and three girls) for this meet.
