Sri Lanka beat Singapore in Asian Games Hockey Men’s qualifier

S ri Lanka defeated Singapore 5-2 in the opening match of the Asian Games Hockey Men’s Qualifying tournament.
Nine teams are taking part in this tournament from May 7-15 in Bangkok, Thailand. Sri Lanka’s next match in group B will be against Bangladesh tomorrow. 


Singapore scored the first two goals through Yuhari Mohammed in the 13th minute and Yap Weelee in the 18th minute to lead 2-0.


Sri Lanka fought back through a hat-trick of goals from Vipul Warnakula (28th, 50th, 59th minutes) while Chathuranga Chandrasena (24th) and Bodhika Dias (27th) also scored.


Warnakula was declared the man of the match.
