Sri Lanka will face defending champions Malaysia in the second semifinal of the 12th Asian Youth (Under 21) Netball Championship 2023, today.
This tournament conducted by Asian Netball is being held in South Korea until June 17.
Singapore and Hong Kong will face off in the first semi-final of this tournament.
Sri Lanka won three of the four matches in the preliminary round and qualified for the semi-final as Group B runner-up.
Sri Lanka beat South Korea (94-8), Brunei (82-16), Chinese Taipei (83-17) and lost to Singapore (29-57). Malaysia beat Hong Kong (63-24), Japan (93-10), India (69-29), Pakistan (102-17) and Thailand (78-21) to qualify for the semi-final with an unbeaten record.
The final will be held tomorrow (June 17).
The teams that win the first, second and third places in this year's Asian youth netball championship will qualify for the 2025 World Youth Netball Championship.
In the last Asian Youth Championship held in 2019, Malaysia were champions, Singapore runners-up and Sri Lanka clinched third place.
