Sri Lanka’s national football pool, led by veteran goalkeeper Sujan Perera, left yesterday for an eight-day training camp in Doha, Qatar.

This Qatar training camp is in preparation for the AFC Asia Cup 2023 third round qualification Group ‘C’ matches in Uzbekistan, Football Sri Lanka (FSL) President Umar Jaswar said.

Sri Lanka is scheduled to play Uzbekistan on June 8, Thailand on June 11 and Maldives on June 14.
The final squad of 23 will be chosen on May 31 before heading to Uzbekistan on June 3.

Striker Waseem Razeek, who showed prolific form in the Mahinda Rajapaksa Trophy Four-National Invitational Football Tournament last year, has also been included following discussions with FSL, having earlier withdrawn himself from national duty.
