Sri Lanka gears up for World University Games

Sri Lanka will field around 40 to 50 athletes for the World University Games, which will be held from July 16 to 27 in Rhine in the Metropolitan region of Germany.  

The FISU World University Games, is an international multi-sport event, organised for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU).

The World University Games will include 18 sports disciplines and Sri Lanka will participate in seven events, the Sri Lanka University Sports Association announced yesterday. Sri Lanka will compete in athletics, badminton, table tennis, rowing, swimming, taekwondo and tennis events at the World University Games.   The Sri Lankan contingent for the World University Games will be named in March next year following the trials, which will be held between August 4 and December 1. Sri Lanka are still searching for their first medal at the World University Games.
