Sri Lanka hockey take part in AHF Cup qualis

The Sri Lanka national hockey team left for Jakarta Indonesia yesterday to take part in the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) Cup 2022 Men’s Qualification Preliminary Round Tournament.  


Ten teams are participating in the tournament which will be held from March 11 to 22. 

 
Sri Lanka has been drawn in Group ‘A’ with China, Thailand, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.  
Group ‘B’ consists of Oman, Singapore, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Iran.  


Army’s Maduranga Wijesinghe is captain of the Sri Lanka team while Air Force’s Tharanga Gunawardena is vice captain.  


Sri Lanka is scheduled to play Uzbekistan on March 11, China on March 14, Kazakhstan on March 15 and Thailand on March 17.   


The champion, runner-up and third placed team of this tournament will qualify to the final round, said Sri Lanka Hockey Federation secretary G. Vishvanathan.
