Sri Lanka netballers off to Botswana enroute to World Cup

The Sri Lanka netball team will leave for Botswana today ahead of the World Cup Netball 2023 to be held in South Africa from July 28 to August 8 in Cape Town.
The Sri Lanka Netball Federation has taken steps to provide a 10-day tour to Botswana for the national squad on the way to the World Cup following a request from the Botswana Netball Federation President Malebo Raditladi Nkgakile.


During the 2019 Liverpool World Cup Netball Championship, the Botswana Netball Federation also provided some training matches to the Sri Lanka team.
This time the Botswana Netball Federation has made arrangement for Sri Lanka play four matches against the Botswana National team, Botswana Police team and two clubs on July 18, 19, 21 and 23, Sri Lanka Netball National Coach Tilaka Jinadasa told ‘Daily Mirror’.


Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Association in Botswana has come forward to support the Sri Lanka team just like in 2019.
The Botswana Sri Lanka Association is supporting with accommodation, food and all facilities during the tour and the Botswana Netball Association is supporting with match venues, internal transport and also visa procedures.
