Sri Lanka have confirmed their participation at the 12th Asian Netball Championships from September 3 to 10 2022 in Singapore.

This event was initially set to be worked off in South Korea in 2020 but the Asian Netball Federation decided to postpone it due to the Covid-19 pandemic in consultation with the South Korea Netball Association.
Sri Lanka won the title for the fifth time when the tournament was last held in 2018 in Singapore with the host nation becoming runners-up and Malaysia claiming the third place.

In fact, Sri Lanka have the credit of having won this tournament the most number of times (5) in 1989, 1997, 2001, 2009 and 2018.

In addition, Singapore won the title in 2005, 2012 and 2014, Malaysia in 1985 and 2016 and Hong Kong in 1993.
Meanwhile, Secretary, Sri Lanka Netball Federation Kumuduni Gomes said that they have already launched a talent identification search programme at provincial level, targeting the Asian Championships.

The Southern and North Central Provinces have been already completed and the national pool training will begin at the end of
January, 2022.
