The Sri Lanka Football Squad will commence their national pool training on August 22 targeting the SAFF Championships, which will be held from October 1 to 13 in the Maldives.
President, Football Sri Lanka (FSL) Umar Jaswar said that the 28-member national pool will go into a residential training camp at the Football Complex in Baddegana under the bio-bubble following a PCR test.
He further stressed that the Sri Lanka Team will need to play a total of four matches inside seven days as the countries participating in this event have been reduced to five from the original list of seven nations.
Sri Lanka will meet Bangladesh on October 1, Nepal on October 3, India on October 6 and the Maldives on October 8 with the final scheduled for October 13.
The FSL Chief noted that this is the biggest football tournament in the region and that Sri Lanka are determined to win the SAFF Championship after a lapse of 26 years.
