Sri Lanka powered their way to an emphatic 81-31 win over India in their 13th Asian Senior Netball Championship Group ‘A’ match played at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium in India yesterday.

The defending champions, who are targeting a hat-trick of titles, built up a commanding 39-12 lead at half-time and went on to record their third successive victory in the tournament.

The six-time champions, who had earlier defeated the Philippines and Saudi Arabia, made their intentions clear from the start and took the opening quarter 18-9 convincingly.

Thereafter, Sri Lanka completely turned the game in their favour with a ruthless performance by winning the second quarter by a massive margin of 21-3.

After the turnaround, Sri Lanka continued with their dominance over their opponents and further consolidated their position by claiming the third quarter 21-3 in style.

Sri Lanka went on to add the finishing touches in a spectacular manner as they pulled off the fourth and final quarter 21-10.

Sri Lanka’s next match of the tournament will be against Japan on Tuesday.

Earlier, Malaysia defeated the Maldives 64-28, Brunei trounced Chinese Taipei 66-20, Japan beat Saudi Arabia 39-17, and Hong Kong routed Iraq 127-7.
