The World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) has decided to hold the 18th Asia/Oceania Region Inter-Government Ministerial Meeting on ‘Anti Doping in Sports’ on June 12 and 13 at Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo.

The Ministry of Sports, Ministry of Tourism, SriLankan Airline, Ceylon Tea Board and the State Gem and Jewellery Corporation are fully supporting this, said Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe.

Representatives of 39 countries in the Asia Pacific region, Sports Ministers of nine countries and ten high-ranking officials including the WADA President are expected to attend this two-day international conference.

The main objective of this conference is to educate sports authorities including Sports Ministers in the region about the negative effects in the future caused by the use of banned body stimulants, which has currently become an epidemic in the world of sports.
