Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) will send the unchanged squad for the Commonwealth Games Women’s Cricket Competition to be held in England later this month, it is learnt.

According to highly placed sources in the SLC, the 15-member squad has no newcomers.
“The team will depart on 25th July. The players will begin training a week before their departure,” the source, speaking exclusively from Colombo, said on Tuesday.

The T-20 format tournament, which is to kickstart on July 29 and to run till August 7 will be played in Birmingham. Sri Lanka’s first match will be against England’s women’s team on July 30.
This will be cricket’s first inclusion in the Commonwealth Games since a List A men’s tournament was held at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  Eight teams (divided into two groups) are participating in the competition.
