Sri Lanka yet to name women’s T20 team for CWG

Sri Lanka is yet to officially announce their team for the women’s T20 cricket tournament for the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.   


Only Australia, New Zealand and Pakistan have named their teams while Sri Lanka are among the five other competing nations yet to announce their line-up.   


The Commonwealth Games women’s T20 tournament will be conducted on a league basis from July 29 to August 7 in Edgbaston, Birmingham.   


This is the first time T20 women’s cricket is at the Commonwealth Games since it was first introduced at the 1998 Games in Kuala Lumpur.   


Australia, Barbados, India and Pakistan are drawn in group A while England, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka are in Group B.   


Sri Lanka will face England on July 30 in their opening match followed by fixtures against New Zealand (August 2) and South Africa (August 4).   


The semi-finals of the competition will take place on August 6 and finals on August 7.
