The Kelab Golf Seri Selangor in Malaysia will host the second Selangor International Junior Golf Championship from November 3 to 5, an event that promises to showcase the remarkable talent of young golfers from across the Asia-Pacific region.

With these rising stars, Sri Lanka is gearing up to make its mark, with a contingent of promising juniors teaming up with Reshan Algama, Kumar Danushan, Jevahn Sathasivam and Adithya Weerasinghe.

Algama, a name well-recognised in Sri Lankan golfing circles, is coming off a strong performance at the recently concluded event in Thailand Junior Championship.
Finishing in the top half of the leaderboard, Algama demonstrated his prowess on an international stage. Adding to his credentials, Algama holds a World Amateur Ranking within the top 1,000.

Dhanushan is another world-ranked player. His presence adds depth and experience to the Sri Lankan Team, making them a force to be reckoned with in the tournament.
Among the rising stars of Sri Lankan Golf, two young talents are poised to capture the golfing world – Weerasinghe and Sathasivam, another top-class performer at the Thailand Tournament.

Within a short span of time in his golf career, this youngster has made a mark for himself, which speaks volumes for his future.

Weerasinghe too came through the HSBC golfing programme and is the first player from Anuradhapura to represent in golf at the national level.

Weerasinghe’s remarkable journey to this event underscores the depth of talent that Sri Lanka is nurturing in junior golf and the hard work done by the junior golf committee at Sri Lanka Golf.

The Selangor International Junior Golf Championship features competitors within the age limit of 18 and below. With Algama and Sathasivam leading the way, Sri Lanka’s golfing future appears bright, and this event presents a golden opportunity for these young talents to showcase their skills on an international stage.
