Sri Lankan juniors shine at ATF Tennis Tourney

Three Sri Lankan junior players tasted success when they won their third-round matches in the ATF Under-14 Girls’ and Boys’ Week-2 Tennis Tournament, which continued at the SLTA Courts in Green Path, Colombo yesterday.

Thuvakar Sathiees and Buvindu Jayawardena won their matches with ease against Alexi Luka of the Philippines, Nuguyen Ahh of Singapore and Pugazhsevel Prakash of India. The three players also qualified to play in the quarter-finals, which are scheduled to be played today.


Results:
Boys’ Singles third round: Thuvakar Sathiees (Sri Lanka) beat Alexi Luka (Philippines) 6-4, 6-4. Buvindu Jayawardena (Sri Lanka) beat Nuguyen Ahh Phan (Singapore) 6-0, 6-1. Udeera Gunasinghe (Sri Lanka) beat Pugazhsevel Prakash (India) 7-6, 6-1. Tanish Reddy (India) beat Kumuditha Dalpathadu (Sri Lanka) 6-3, 6- 4. Dexter Yu (Hong Kong) beat Abdul Cader (Sri Lanka) 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.
