Sri Lanka’s national cricketers will get a Covid-19 booster vaccination on Thursday, it is learnt.

“All national players already had two doses of the Sputnik vaccine and it has now been more than six months and the booster is due for them,” a health ministry source revealed.

“This time it will be a Pfizer vaccine,” the source also confirmed.

“It is not mandatory for all but most of them want it.”

Sri Lanka’s Test captain Dimuth Karunaratne is not available to take this booster shot.

The 33-year-old skipper, who is one of the nominees for the ICC’s Test Cricketer of the Year 2021, is holidaying in the USA.
