Supun, Akram put Trinity on top

Half tons by Supun Waduge and Akram Muthalib helped Trinity College end day one with a formidable score of 325 for 6 against Wesley College in the Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter played at Campbell Park.
Trinity’s score came on the back of three partnerships with Muthalib being involved in two of those. The first was an opening wicket stand of 108 runs between Waduge, who made 71 which included eight boundaries and a six, and Viduka Dhammage who chipped in with a 46.


Akram who remained unbeaten on 88 with eight boundaries and a six put on a 65-run stand for the sixth wicket with Rahal Amarasinghe and then followed it up with an unbroken 90-run stand for the seventh wicket with Vinhawith Ehelepola who was on 45.


Meanwhile, a knock of 83 inclusive of nine boundaries and two sixes by Sineth Jayawardena, who featured in two half-century partnerships, enabled Royal College to make a score of 198 against Prince of Wales, who ended on 71 for 4 when play stopped due to bad light on day one in the match played at Reid Avenue.
