A strong Surrey outfit comprising England internationals Jason Roy, Chris Jordan, Sam Curran, Reece Topley and Ollie Pope, eased to a comprehensive nine-wicket win versus the touring SLC Development XI in a T20 match played at the Oval on Wednesday night.

Having been asked to bat first, the visitors never really got going, with the opening four batters all being dismissed for single figures.

Dhananjaya Lakshan (27) and Ashen Bandara (33) gave the total a degree of respectability, but the remaining batters collapsed around them as the side were bowled out for 106 with an over to spare.

In response, highly-rated young opener Will Jacks, along with Ollie Pope, launched into the Development XI attack and needed only 9.4 overs in chasing down the required target. Jacks made an unbeaten 58 off 31 balls while Pope finished not out on 31.

SLC Development XI: 106 in 18.5 overs (A Bandara 33, D Lakshan 27, R Topley 3 for 13, S Curran 2 for 21, J Overton 2 for 8)

Surrey: 111 for 1 in 9.4 overs (W Jacks 58 no, O Pope 31 no)
