In an enthralling final to the world championship of the 2020/21 I-Racing season that ended at Daytona on the 5th of September, Mandarin Reid eSport sponsored Sri Lankan team SRL made history with a top ten placement beating much fancied opponents. I-racing is a 24 hour endurance e-race that is
competed as a team sport. Earlier this year the same team qualified 3rd at Lemans making them the highest ranked Asian team of that I-racing circuit.

Mandarin Reid eSports under its athlete management program associated with SRL earlier this year with the aim of making global eSporting history for Sri Lanka. Together with Coach Danial Morad a former world champion of iracing and of Canadian decent the aim was always to be amongst the worlds
top ten and amidst the points. The boys did not disappoint. Working to a strategy the team steadily progressed and would have been placed much higher if not for some reckless driving and an attempt to take the Sri Lankan team out that saw them lose valuable time at the pitstop. The incident has been reported and would be very seriously taken up by the world I-Racing council.

Despite this setback the team showed much character clawing their way back into the world points table. The highlights of their win at Daytona was a ninth place world ranking, being the highest ranked Asian team – once more beating Asia’s best and breaking their own personal best. This achievement
is massive for Sri Lanka as it puts the Island Nation on the map of e-racing as strong contenders of the future. This potentially marks the rise of a new generation of Sri Lankan athletes who will fly the national flag and pride of all Lankans in foreign lands said Prashanth Supramaniam – Managing Director of Mandarin Reid eSports. We Thank Wijeya Group and Red Bull for beng the wings behind this Sri Lankan success story.
